Holy speed figures Batman! Pegasus World Cup runner-up overwhelmed a decent field of G2 rivals to record a Beyer figure of 107 – matching the number achieved by Pegasus conqueror Mucho Gusto as the highest of the year on dirt.

Having set the pace in the Pegasus, the five-year-old this time sat on the flanks of leaders who set a sizzling pace before overwhelming them in the stretch and scoring by a long-looking three lengths over Phat Man.

The Godolphin Mile on Dubai World Cup night now beckons after what trainer Dale Romans described as “breakthrough race”. The final time was 1m34.80s.

Half an hour later on the same card, Pegasus Turf hero Zulu Alpha matched Mr Freeze’s figure with a 107 for a solid victory over a good field in the G2 Mac Diarmida over 1m3f on the green stuff.
