Gulfstream Park (May 17): allowance optional claimer $47,000, 1m, dirt, 4yo+
Trainer: Todd Pletcher
Jockey: Luis Saez
Owner: Harrell Ventures LLC
Pedigree: 4yo ch g Shackleford – Whisper Louise (Bernardini)

Quite a special weekend in the US with Churchill Downs and Santa Anita reopening but nothing very special anywhere in terms of Beyers.

Top of the shop was the Todd Pletcher-trained Sniper Shot, a lightly raced four-year-old gelding who scored by 6¾ lengths in minor grade at a sloppy Gulfstream Park on Sunday’s card.

Sent off even-money for a one-mile optional claimer, the son of Shackleford stalked the pace on the outside before taking command at the far turn and drawing away in an authoritative effort. He has never been worse than second in five career starts.

Elsewhere, seven-time Graded-stakes winner Bellafina needed only a 92 Beyer to pick up the winning thread in G3 company at Santa Anita.
