• Most notable mover on Thoroughbred Racing Commentary’s Global Rankings
+2 William Buick
In flying form in the last few weeks, William Buick enjoyed further G1 success for Charlie Appleby in Germany on Sunday when he partnered Barney Roy held on by a neck for his third top-level success in the Grosser Dallmayr-Preis – Bayerisches Zuchtrennen in Munich.
The Godolphin jockey may have earned only a 2pt boost on the Thoroughbred Racing Commentary’s exclusive global rankings but it was a significant couple of points, moving Buick up to third place overall with a total of 1,060 points – two more than Ryan Moore, who slips a spot to fourth.
World leader is Frankie Dettori on 1,089 points, nicely clear of Christophe Lemaire (1,063 points), current leader in Japan.
Elsewhere, Belgarion’s Durban July victory pushed both trainer Justin Snaith (+4pt, #32 from #45) and jockey Richard Fourie (+6pt, #38 from #44) into their respective Top 40s.
Snaith was winning South Africa’s most prestigious race for the fifth time, while Fourie was landing his third win.
The biggest boost of the week, though, came via the seven points earned for G3 victories by jockeys Yuji Hishida (#235 from #347) – who scored on Jo Kana Chan in the Ibis Summer Dash at Niigata in Japan – and Kieran Shoemark (#316 from #484). The latter rode Lady Bowthorpe for trainer William Jarvis in the Valiant Stakes at Ascot.
Another mover is Jo Kana Chan’s trainer Takeshi Matsushita (+5pt, #151 from #202).
