Belmont Park (Oct 31): Bold Ruler Hcap G3 $100,000, 7f, dirt, 3yo+
Trainer: George Weaver
Jockey: Joel Rosario
Owner: RA Hill Stable
Pedigree: 5yo bg Majesticperfection – Candy Fortune (Candy Ride)

Majestic Dunhill had been winless in five previous outings in 2020 before wearing down front-running favourite Share The Ride (gave 2lb) to claim his first graded success in the Bold Ruler at Belmont.

That said, the five-year-old gelding is a regular work partner of Breeders’ Cup-bound Vekoma and had shown up pretty well in decent course-and-distance allowance company five weeks previously.

Having broken a step slow in the Bold Ruler, Majestic Dunhill rode the rail until being angled out in the stretch and then keeping on gamely inside the final 100 yards to score by a head from a runner-up who had been third in the G2 Vosburgh on his most recent outing.

A final time of 1m22.48s for the 7f on a muddy main track was enough to creep over the three-digit Beyer speed-figure threshold and earn top marks on the relatively quiet pre-Breeders’ Cup weekend.
