UAE: Bookmakers Ladbrokes have opened betting on next year’s Dubai World Cup at Meydan on March 27, with Godolphin’s Benbatl their 7-2 favourite ahead of Tiz The Law on the 6-1 mark.

Having won the second leg of the Maktoum Challenge under Christophe Soumillon on the Meydan dirt in February, Benbatl went on to finish third in the inaugural Saudi Cup and was favourite for the 2020 Dubai World Cup before Covid-19 intervened.

The Saeed Bin Suroor-trained six-year-old appeared just once in Europe this year, beaten a length into third by 2,000 Guineas winner Kameko in the G2 Joel Stakes at Newmarket in September.

Tiz The Law, Ladbrokes’ second favourite for Dubai, is set to run in the Pegasus World Cup on January 23 after his Breeders’ Cup disappointment. Connections have stated he will not be targeting the Saudi Cup but has an “outside shot” of running at Meydan.

Ladbrokes have also introduced Caulfield Cup heroine Verry Elleegant into their betting for the 2021 Arc on the 25-1 mark after connections outlined a plan to bring the mare to Europe next summer.

Dubai World Cup betting (Ladbrokes): 7-2 Benbatl, 6 Tiz The Law, 7 Mucho Gusto, 8 Chrysoberyl, Mishriff, Monomoy Girl, 12 Matterhorn, Swiss Skydiver, Tacitus, 14 Cafe Pharoah, 16 Capezzano, 20 Salute The Soldier, Tuz, 25 bar.

Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe betting (Ladbrokes): 8 Love, Tarnawa, 10 Contrail, 20 High Definition, Mishriff, 25 In Swoop, Verry Elleegant, Wonderful Tonight, 33 bar.
