+108 Golden Sixty
Normally we eschew horses in this slot on the grounds that the racehorse rankings are much more volatile than the others in terms of points changes, which means we would end up with a four-legged star every week if we stuck to the numbers.
This week, however, there is little argument for avoiding the obvious. Golden Sixty crashed onto the world stage with a brilliant victory in the Hong Kong Mile to take his winning streak to 11, and the five-year-old – beaten just one in 15 career starts – jumps into the Top Five with a 108pt boost (#5 from #15).
If only active horses were included, the Hong Kong superstar would be #2 behind only Breeders’ Cup Turf winner Tarnawa.
Golden Sixty’s connections Vincent Ho (+7pt, #33 from #40) and Francis Lui (+5pt, #76 from #103) were also rewarded with significant jumps.
Higher up the charts, after going in the wrong direction for the last few weeks, Ryan Moore steadies the ship (+3pt, stays at #6) after his G1 double in Hong Kong on Mogul and Danon Smash, while Zac Purton (+3pt, #6 from #9) moves up a couple of places.
Frankie Dettori is still #1 with 1,093 points – but his lead over Japanese-based champion Christophe Lemaire is down to only nine.
