Germany: Top German filly Donjah is to continue her career in the United States where she will join the stable of Chad Brown.
The four-year-old last raced in the Breeders’ Cup Turf at Keeneland, where an unfortunate mid-race stumble put paid to her challenge as she came in last of ten.
She returned to Europe where she was offered for sale at the Arqana December sale but was led out unsold with the bidding having reached €720,000.
In a subsequent deal her owners Darius Racing sold a 50 per cent stake in the Henk Grewe-trained G1 winner in a deal with Nicolas de Watrigant’s Mandore International Agency.
“The buyers are the same customers who acquired A Raving Beauty at the 2017 Arqana auction,” said Darius Racing’s manager Holger Faust,
“Donjah will continue her racing career in the USA for the new customers and Darius Racing. The new trainer will be Chad Brown.”
Brown trained A Raving Beauty, who had won at Listed level for Andreas Suborics in Germany, to win two G1s, the Just A Game and First Lady Stakes, in 2018, after which she was sold at auction for $2 million.
Donjah has already won at the highest level, capturing the Preis von Europa in August, one of three Group wins in 11 starts.
