Pegasus World Cup takeaway: everything you need to know as Knicks Go runs rivals ragged

Harried on the lead by outsider Last Judgment, the hot favourite sped through some strong fractions (22.90s, 46.16s, 1.09.91s).

Opponents’ resistance broken, the five-year-old kept on in the stretch for a 2¾-length victory in a time of 1m47.89s – and while this wasn’t the starriest edition of the Pegasus, second-placed Jesus’ Team (104) and Independence Hall (103) in third also smashed through the three-digit barrier. Knicks Go is now rated a “50-50 chance” by his trainer to contest the Saudi Cup.

Wildman Jack, a winner at Meydan 12 months ago, also posted a 104 for trainer Doug O’Neill in the G3 Palos Verdes over 6f on dirt at Santa Anita.
