Something in the Saratoga air agrees with Got Stormy, who regained her Fourstardave title on Saturday after challenging three wide at the head of the stretch and then holding late-running Set Piece.

From four runs at Saratoga, the six-year-old now has three wins and a second place. Three of those runs have come in the Fourstardave, where she broke the track record in 2019 before last year’s second place.

Despite that record, Got Stormy was allowed to exit the gate as a 12-1 shot after a couple of less exalted efforts elsewhere before this length-and-a-half success, which earned a BSF of 104 – the week’s highest, and the 10th three-digit number of her career.

Now she has booked her place in the Breeders’ Cup Mile, this G1 event being part of the Breeders’ Cup ‘Win and You’re In’ Challenge offering a guaranteed spot in the $2m highlight at Del Mar on November 6. She was second to Uni in the same race at Santa Anita in 2019.

Got Stormy’s career record now includes seven graded-stakes wins at six different tracks; she is 12-for-30 overall.

“The good news for us is she’s one-for-one at Del Mar,” said trainer Mark Casse. “We should have hard and fast there; the turns aren’t quite as tight as they are here but they’re sharp.”
