Aqueduct (Dec 4): Go For Wand Hcap G3 $250,000, 1m, dirt, 3yo+ f/m
Trainer: Brad Cox
Jockey: Irad Ortiz
Owner: Frank Fletcher and Ten Strike Racing
Pedigree: 4 bb f Tale Of The Cat – Allons Danser (Eskendereya)
Time: 1m36.52s

An eyecatching front-running effort tops the Beyer chart this week after Lady Rocket demolished her Go For Wand rivals with a career-best, coming home nine lengths clear of runner-up Bella Vita for her first graded success.

Trained by Brad Cox, the four-year-old filly established an early lead over pace rival Miss Marissa and was untroubled to set stiff fractions (23.22s, 46.54s) for the one-turn mile.

Stepping up in trip clearly suited the winner, who had claimed a Listed race on her previous outing over 7f, and she drew right away in the stretch before being eased at the wire.

“I was waiting, biding my time,” said jockey Irad Ortiz. “I just took it easy and tried to get her to relax up front and she relaxed. She waited for my call and that was the key.”

Lady Rocket has now won four of her last five starts, and had not finished worse than third in eight outings in 2021.

On the same card at Aqueduct, Americanrevolution earned a 104 BSF in the G1 feature, the Cigar Mile.
